Stunning vineyard landscapes and famous Venetian villas, captivating holiday resorts of Venetian nobility and the rich mercantile bourgeoisie. Welcome to the province of Treviso, nicknamed the “joyful and amorous march” for its relaxed, carefree, and convivial way of life. A place where even today, rhythms are slow and the days go by in the pursuit of beauty and good food. The perfect place for carving out a relaxing weekend and for discovering a rich territory of artistic treasures and superb wines. The destination that best represents this stunning area is Villa Sandi, the Moretti Polegato family wine company, housed in a seventeenth-century Palladian school building, among art and agriculture. Most of the property’s vineyards are found in the production area of the famous Prosecco, both in the flat areas of the Doc and the rolling Asolani hills, as far as the Cartizze hills, the special cru representing the peak quality of the production of Prosecco Superiore. The Moretti Polegato family’s love for the land is reflected in their commitment to protecting biodiversity: the company vineyards are “Biodiversity Friend” certified. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably, safeguarding biodiversity and maintaining wooded areas, habitat for several species of animal whose presence here is a guarantee of a healthy environment. This environmental commitment continues in the winery itself, with the use of renewable energy and consideration of water resources.
Furthermore, for more than 20 years, Villa Sandi has been dedicated to the promotion and development of the land, opening the doors of the villa, and their beautiful cellars below, to tourists. Extending over 1.5 km, the cellars house bottles of Metodo Classico Opere Trevigiane and barrels with the great reds Corpore and Filio, produced with grapes from vineyards surrounding the villa with the expertise of famous enologist Riccardo Cotarella.
The guided tours attract 20,000 tourists each year, who can then further their understanding of the Villa Sandi wines with a tasting in the Botteghe dei Vino di Crocetta del Montello and Valdobbiadene: be sure to try some Il Fresco Prosecco Doc di Treviso, “Prosecco of the year” for 14 years running in Germany, and some of the excellent Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Brut la Rivetta, awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso. For those who want to stay a little longer, there’s the Locanda Sandi, a restored old farmhouse comprising a restaurant serving traditional dishes of the Venetian countryside, and six lovely rooms, the perfect base for setting off to discover some of the surroundings, perhaps on a mountain bike, available to tourists.
