Actor Antoni Porowski will be busy spreading holiday cheer these next few weeks after Peroni, the Italian beer brand, chose him to kick-off the winter season with a set of tasty finger-food recipes.
For the occasion, the actor from the hit Bravo series “Queer Eye” and cookbook author invented four “untraditional” recipes using the pale lager as a dominant ingredient.
One of the Italian dishes is a fritto misto made with calamari, zucchini, and Cerignola olives all dipped and fried in a light Peroni batter. There’s also an unforgettable spiced cocktail called “Peroni Regalo,” that uses beer, bourbon, and bitters with hints of clove, cinnamon, and orange.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, Antoni described his reaction when Peroni approached him about holiday cooking.
"I love Italian food. I have extreme Italian envy, so I thought, how awesome to be asked to develop Italian recipes," he said. "It was just such a fun exercise to kind of look at traditional Italian dishes, look at the holidays, and get excited about it, even though it's definitely not going to be the way that it was, at least for me."
