Actor Stanley Tucci, wearing a fitted black polo tucked into jeans, surprised the world with a fast cocktail demonstration from his kitchen, while his wife, Felicity Blunt, filmed every step.
Just in time for quarantine, Stanley’s Negroni became an instant hit, pulling in over 3.7 million views on Twitter and praise for a sexy heart-throbbing performance. Time Magazine declared “now everyone on Twitter wants a Negroni.”
Swinging piano jazz could be heard playing in the living room as Stanley measured the shots.
He shook the liquors for a good six seconds, glancing at the camera just once to share a shy smile with his wife.
We learned a lot about the actor who let his passion for all things Italian come through once again. (He wrote and directed the Italian American classic Big Night.) He prefers gin over vodka. He refuses to use a low-quality sweet vermouth. He likes to sip his aperitivo out of a coupe glass.
After pouring the cocktail, he pressed an orange slice with his fingers to let out a bit of juice. “Don’t let anyone see you handle it like that,” he joked in a fatherly tone.
But for an actor with such immaculate tastes and dry sense of humor, it’s better to follow his advice. (We know he wasn’t actually kidding anyway.)
Stanley’s Negroni Recipe
Ingredients:
2 shots of gin or vodka
1 shot of sweet vermouth
1 shot of Campari
Bit of freshly squeezed orange juice
1 slice of orange for garnish
Method:
Pour vodka/gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari into a shaker with ice. “You can do it on the rocks,” he said. “But it’s kinda nice to have it up.”
Shake for 6 seconds.
Pour into a coupe, martini glass, or whatever you have available.
Garnish with an orange slice. For extra citrus, squeeze a bit of juice before placing it on the rim of the glass
