Celebrity chefs stuck at home seem to be spending just as much time in the kitchen. Lucky for us, they’re instagramming these moments, bringing to life the dishes we love from their restaurants and cookbooks in a more personal setting.
Here are some of the highlights of the dishes they made over the weekend.
Jamie Oliver prepared a household favorite, minestrone soup, filled with hearty leaf vegetables, white beans and pasta for his #KeepCookingandCarryOn series. Since staying at home, the British chef has started to cook “bendy recipes,” that allow for adaptability and taste delicious even with limited ingredients. Before kicking off the week, he captured a moment of relaxation and fun with his wife, Juliette Norton, as she danced in the kitchen with slippers on. He tagged the video with “Mrs. got the moves!” and said their teenagers had fled the scene.
David Chang, the Netflix star and Momofuku restaurateur, made a classic orecchiette and broccoli rabe pasta in a one pot. Chef Chang had no heel of Parmesan on hand, so he tossed in a bit of fish sauce and msg to give it some umami flavor. “Just like my Nonna used to make it,” he joked.
Lidia Bastianich, who has been quarantined with her mother Erminia, whipped up a “light and luscious” rice frittata and a simple aglio e olio pasta that was ready in 15 minutes. The restaurateur, chef, and author began contributing her #pantryrecipes this week. She promises they will be versatile, easy to prepare, and healthy.
And Tuscan chef Rita Sodi posted a mouth-watering video of her home-made patate fritte while it sizzled in a pan. She included her recipe and offered substitutes for missing ingredients, so if the sage ran out, go with rosemary.
