This week, Antonio Giovinazzi, an Italian Formula One racing driver, grabbed 10th place at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy. The 26-year old has been competing for the Alfa Romeo-Ferrari team since last year.
On top of managing a busy career, Antonio happens to be an enthusiastic cook who loves to prepare specialty pastas from the Puglia region where he is from. This fall, he posted a short video showing off one of Puglia’s most famous recipes, a bowl of “little ear” orecchiette made with broccoli rabe.
But this week, he revealed an excellent quarantine recipe for pasta al forno in a Q&A with Formula One magazine.
Antonio’s “traditional” pasta is not as fast as you might imagine. He uses pasta and tomato sauce with a bit of ham. The tough part he says is the timing. He boils the pasta for half the cook time, then puts it in the oven with mozzarella cheese on top at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
Antonio did not mention how long it takes him to finish off the pasta, but from what he’s said in the past about going fast, eating quickly might be ok with him.
“I’ve always been seeking the thrill of speed because it gives meaning to my life,” he posted on Instagram.
