The region that brought us Luciano Pavarotti, Enzo Ferrari, and Massimo Bottura, has produced something imminent and delicious to celebrate the end of summer: balsamic vinegar of Modena gelato.
Silky in texture and mildly acidic, this limited-edition flavor dazzles the palate and tastes especially refreshing in August.
After maturing for a minimum of 60 days in wooden vats, this tart Modenese classic gets folded into cool and creamy gelato. The result is slightly floral and tangy with a sweetened aftertaste.
Those lucky enough to try this delicacy must visit Il Laboratorio del Gelato, a New York City wholesaler with shops in the Lower East Side and Greenwich Village, and Gelato-Go, a gelateria with locations across Florida and Southern California.
The flavor is available until Sunday, August 30, at Gelato-Go, and until Monday, September 7, at Il Laboratorio del Gelato. The gelato was made possible thanks to a campaign by the Consorzio Tutela Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP.
