A beautiful initiative started in Monforte d'Alba, from winemaker Sara Vezza of the Josetta Saffirio winery: the opportunity for wine lovers to adopt a row in the Langa del Barolo.
In recent years, more and more people have begun to enjoy the “country life” – getting away from the city stress, immersing themselves in nature, learning what it means to respect the environment, flora and fauna and educating themselves on becoming responsible adults, with equally sustainable lifestyles.
And with her real invitation to live the experience of winemaking firsthand, Sara Vezza has certainly raised the bar slightly – allowing Barolo fans to become real winemakers, learning what it means to cultivate, grow, harvest and produce their own wine. Plus, eventually they even get to taste the fruits of their success with bottles of the wine from your very own row at the vineyard produced and sent to you at a later date.
"Josetta Saffirio’s Adopt a Row project also aims to preserve the wine-growing landscape, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and to guarantee the survival of the small producers, who have been the guardians of these hills for centuries. The idea is also to create tourist and cultural itineraries in Monforte d'Alba. Barolo is not only economy; it is culture,” explains the young barolista Sara Vezza.
The row adoption project in Monforte d'Alba could also be an original gift idea for a friend of family member who loves wine! The adoption includes: the name and surname of the adopter on the head pole of the adopted row; the possibility to donate the row to third parties; six bottles of Barolo DOCG produced from the adopted row; plus six mixed bottles chosen at the discretion of the company; a certificate of adoption, with name of the adopter; a visit to the winery at any time of the year (by appointment) with free tasting of all wines (accompanied by a selection of typical products). Not to mention the updates they’ll send you on the processing stages of your grapes – from harvesting to bottling!

Costs
The fee for the adoption of a row is €400 and corresponds to a portion of 15 linear meters of row. For the second year of adoption and subsequent years, the cost will be € 350.
La Vigna Persiera (The Persiera Vineyard)
La Persiera is a special vineyard – for its terroir, microclimate, soil, working and attention in the cellar that enhances the characteristics of the vineyard. A long-lived wine with great personality. Adoption of La Vigna Persiera: Cost is €500 for 12 months (renewable the following year). Labels can be personalized with a special hand-written name or phrase. With the adoption, two Magnum bottles in single wooden packages + two 0.75 bottles of Barolo Persiera will be delivered.
