This is an idea we thought you’d love! First of all, let’s say what’s on everyone’s minds while reading this: We sense that you’re a little suspicious. You’re thinking that frying something in mayo is almost scandalous, right? Well, it’s not! We promise.
Mayonnaise is made from eggs, oil, lemon or vinegar in small quantities, so it has a very important fat component found in a variety of other recipes. So — our stylist and recipe alchemist pro Beatrice Prada went for the challenge during quarantine one day: She made a lovely grilled cheese fried in mayonnaise! The result? It was fantastic!
In fact, the mayonnaise browned very nicely for a delicious and tasty crust.
And that's not all: The same method can even be used to "grill” — or rather fry — slices of bread for a wonderful toasted sandwich with chicken, tomatoes, arugula and cheese.
