Halloween means sugar. And why limit yourself to pre-packaged candy when you can make all kinds of cookies, cakes or even spoon desserts? Make your favorite dessert – just with a spooky-scary touch! With creative decorations, you can make any sweet into a holiday-themed treat.
If you’re skilled with fondant icing, you can use it to make ghosts, bones, pumpkins, spiders and witches. But if this isn’t really your thing, just buy some ready-made dessert decorations and add them to cakes or cupcakes.
Skip the pumpkin!
If you don't like pumpkin, you don't have to use it. Just add chocolate to everything, which is perfect for Halloween paired with another orange ingredient! With only two ingredients – egg whites and sugar – you can also have fun with “ghostly” meringues! Or you can use whipped cream for this if you don’t feel like baking. Using a pastry bag, distribute the whipped cream onto small muffins. Complete with two chocolate chips for the ghost’s eyes. Then again, you could use some licorice to make some scary spiders! Ask the kids for help – they’re sure to have a few creative ideas to help out!
