Greek yogurt is an ideal ingredient to keep in the fridge because it’s so versatile and suitable for many recipes. If you eat it only at breakfast, you’ll find that there are actually many more ways to enjoy it!
Frozen yogurt is a full-fledged ice cream available from some ice cream makers – usually made with fresh cream as well. It has a very creamy consistency, almost the same as ice cream, and it can be served naturally white with fresh fruit topping, syrups, grains, or other tasty toppings. Since it is not very easy to reproduce in the homemade version, we want to suggest a few yogurt-based ideas that are easy to make without an ice-cream maker or any other special equipment – ideal both as a snack and for dessert.

Yogurt gelato
To make gelato with greek yogurt, simply mix it with whipped cream and sugar. Then transfer the mixture to the freezer. Eat it as soon as it’s cold or blend it to make it even creamier. For a version without cream that’s lighter and vegan, just pour the yogurt into ice trays and blend it once frozen with slices of frozen banana or berries.
Yogurt pops
For a snack on-the-go to eat standing up and without plates, cups or cutlery, make some popsicles. Pour the greek yogurt mixed with honey and fruit into popsicle molds. After a couple of hours in the freezer, serve, and enjoy! The best part about this recipe is that you can use all the fruit you want – sliced or blended like a smoothie. True gourmets can add chocolate chips, nuts, and crumbled-up biscuits or cookies to the basic yogurt mixture.
Yogurt semifreddo
To make this deliciously beautiful-to-look-at dessert, first make a mixture of greek yogurt, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. Then pour the mixture into a plumcake mold or a Bavarian mold – preferably made of silicone, so that it can be turned out of the mold without breaking once cold. For this recipe, you can also add a cheesecake base with chopped biscuits or cookies and butter. Then again, you could always garnish the semifreddo with melted chocolate or fruit syrup. Take it out of the freezer at least 15 minutes before serving.
Cheesecake
We all love cheesecake, right? Well, the no-bake version is great, but have you ever tried freezing it for something similar to an ice cream cake? Chop some plain cookies or biscuits and mix them with melted butter. Crush with your hands on the base of a hinged mold covered with baking parchment. Then pour in the yogurt mixed with fresh whipped cream. Add honey and berries on top. Complete with a cooled syrup made by cooking berries and sugar. Place in the freezer for a few hours and then serve.
Frozen Yogurt, Fruit and Granola Bars
This healthy and light snack has gone viral online because it’s so easy to make and pretty to look at! Basically, you just mix yogurt, honey, pistachio nuts, chocolate chips, blueberries, and raspberries and then you pour everything onto a baking sheet lined with baking parchment. Cover the surface with more baking parchment and then transfer to the freezer for two hours. Once frozen solid, break up the bar by hand and serve.
